Dragon Ball Kai Licensed/Announced By Funimation; May Release
Funimation has announced that it has licensed Dragon Ball Kai, the new version of Dragon Ball Z now airing in Japan on Fuji TV. Kai is a cut of the show touched up for HD, with some redrawn scenes and filler removed for a smoother pace that resembles Akira Toriyama's manga. A new musical score has been composed by Kenji Yamamoto, known for his work on Dragon Ball Z video games like the Budoukai series, Burst Limit, Infinite World, and Raging Blast. Most of the original Japanese cast, including Masako Nozawa (Son Goku/Gohan/Goten), Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta), Toshio Furukawa (Piccolo) have returned to their original roles, but some roles have been recast, such as Aya Hirano as Dende.

Dragon Ball Kai - Episode 34 Review

Comments: Ginyu switches bodies with Goku and flies off with Jeece, leaving his injured body behind. Vegeta arrives at Freeza's ship first and kills the soldiers, then hides when Gohan and Kuririn arrive, waiting for them to activate the Dragon Balls. However, Kuririn can't summon the dragon. Ginyu and Jeece arrive and Kuririn is fooled into thinking Ginyu is Goku, but Gohan sees through the switch and warns him. Goku in Ginyu's body arrives and confirms the situation. He does figure, however, that since Ginyu isn't used to his body, he can't use his power well, and tells Gohan and Kuririn to attack him.

Synopsis: Ginyu is overwhelmed by Goku's power, and wonders if he can be a Super Saiyan of legend. However, seeing how clear-minded and fair he remains, he shakes off that thought and prepares a new strategy. Freeza passes Dende on the way to Saichoro's place and lets him go, and requests the information necessary to summon the dragon from the elder. Nail challenges Freeza and they choose a place to battle, but Nail's arm is torn off when he attacks.

OtakuRevolution.com was born from another site, OtakuRevolution.net, which was a web forum and sprite comic site dating back to the early 2000s. I was a member at that time, and somehow snagged the .com TLD when it popped up. The Otaku Revolution name lives on in remembrance of that simpler time.
