Comments:

It looks like my excitement last week was premature, since we continue to set up things for most of this episode. This episode wrapped up all the preperation for the series of battles to come, with Goku testing his Genki Dama, Master Roshi and the gang summoning Shenron, and Goku heading back to Earth. I almost completely forgot that there was that scene of Goku testing his new attack on Kai's planet. I'm glad it made the cut.

The production seemed higher in this episode than the past few. The video was really clean and the art was pretty spot on throughout. Even Kai's music slightly improved in this episode. One noteworthy track was when Goku was saying his goodbyes to Kaio, Bubbles, and Gregory. Though I'd say that I miss some of the quieter moments of the original run.

I didn't notice it before, maybe because it had been censored most of the time I saw the scene, but when Vegeta and Nappa arrive on Earth, their pods kill people just crash landing. There's this one shot where a car is turned over and there's a pool of blood underneath it. Nasty. I'm surprised it wasn't censored here, since Kai has been censoring things for no good reason. I hope they keep most of the blood in the upcoming battles. Otherwise, the least they can do is simulcast with the Ocean Group doing English dub voices, since if it's going to be censored, at least it'll feel like the old Ocean days.

3.5 out of 5 (because of that Genki Dama scene)
