Episode 27, Banquet at the Crevice"

Synopsis: In a dream, Hohenheim talks to a younger Pinako about his sons, the country, and humans. Another version of him appears and reveals that "Pinako" is really him trying to defend the human race. In the end, he dreams of confirmation of his beliefs by Trisha and the people he knew in Resembool. Waking up, Hohenheim continues on his journey.

Comments:

How does one review the dub of something that is largely a clip episode? The only characters who aren't speaking merely in clips are Hohenheim, Father, a younger Pinako, and Trisha. So, I guess what I'll have to do is, well, just comment on their performances.

Synopsis: At the age of 18, Roy Mustang takes part in training in the Amestris military. While in training, he meets Maes Hughes and an Ishbalan named Heiss Clif Arber, and they become friends over a fight to overcome discrimination. However, years later in the Ishbal massacre, Heiss Clif is on the other side. Devestated by the war, Roy looks for 30 seconds peace. After the war, Hughes reunites with his then-girlfriend, Gracia, and Roy acknowledges his comrade's strength.

This is one of my favorite scenes in Brotherhood. Romi Paku is so amazing.

Episode 24, "Inside the Belly"

Synopsis: Gluttony goes on a rampage, trying to devour Roy into his eye Gate. Roy manages to escape with Riza in a car, taking Ran Fan with her, while Ed, Al, and Ling stay behind to fight. Envy arrives to retrieve Gluttony, but a new fight begins, and Gluttony accidently swallows Ed, Ling, and Envy. Roy attempts to enlist the help of General Raven at Central HQ, but it's revealed that he and a number of high military officers are in on the homunculi's plans, and the Fuhrer appears before him.

Comments:

For some reason, when I watched this episode the first time with the dub, on Adult Swim, I absolutely loathed the job done on it. But when I rewatched it, it sounded a lot better for some reason. I may have to make a habit of that.
