Ghost in the Shell

Otaku Evolution Episode 242 - Ghost in the Shell: Arise

Ghost in the Shell: Arise is convoluted as all get-out and much of it confuses the shit out of me. Trying to keep track of the dozens of factions and their motivations is mind-bending work and I could only get the basic gist of parts of it. Is it just me? Am I not smart enough for this anime? Or is every new chapter of Ghost in the Shell just addicted to complexity to a deleterious degree? Join me as I try to make sense of this damn thing.

Otaku Evolution Episode 174 - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (two seasons) is 52 episodes long, making this the most episodes I've ever watched to review for these videos. Not only that, but it's definitely the most I've ever watched to review for a single video. I didn't even break this into two or three parts! I probably could have stretched the material, too. But I felt like one succinct video was enough to give the right impression of this classic anime.

Well, actually, it was a tiny bit longer, originally, but I had to edit it down because it was blocked in some areas. Always a pain in the ass, YouTube and Japanese companies. But you get the drift.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (Episodes 1-12) Review

SPOILER-FREE SYNOPSIS: In the year 2045, sustainable warfare has made an even wider gap between the haves and the have-nots in certain areas of the world. Motoko Kusanagi, Batou, and other former Section 9 members are now GHOST, a PMC that cleans up messes in the U.S., but have found themselves entangled in a bigger plot. So-called "post-humans" threaten the world order, and Section 9 is revived in Japan, at the behest of the newest Prime Minister. But is the Prime Minister just a puppet for the American government? And is there more to these post-humans than just superhuman monsters? The gang's all back to brain dive into a brand new series by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki!

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie Trailer

I'm looking forward to this. Arise gets a bad rep, but that's just because it isn't SAC. Or maybe because it's too much like SAC, and yet isn't. I sort of understand, but they're both good, and I think people just dismissed it out of hand because neither Oshii nor Kamiyama were handling this. But it honestly looks like it'll be even better than the previous Arise entries at the very least.

Ghost in the Shell FPS trailer

Looks decent enough, though I haven't played a FPS in ages, so I don't know what is considered good with those anymore. Obviously the graphics are not really current-gen, but it gives it a nice PS2-ish feel and I love me some Stand Alone Complex.
