Full Armor Unicorn Prototype Ver. Introduction

A while back I set into motion a rather ambitious project. A third MG Unicorn themed off of the Full Armor version. It's not going to have all of the bells and whistles though. It'll be toned down a little bit, but should be impressive none the less. It'll also feature a four toned paint job (white, light gray, gray, dark gray) and a brilliant metalic green for the psycho frame.

MG Unicorn Ver Ka v.s. OVA Comparison

Welcome to my rough, yet fairly thorough review of the differences between the new MG Unicorn OVA version and the previously released Ver Ka edition.

Design Changes In from a design prospective there aren't a whole lot of differences between the Ver Ka release and the new OVA. Surprisingly the OVA release comes with the exactly same runners as the Ver Ka. The new parts come on two small additional runners. Apparently it was cheaper for Bandai to keep the same molds and include the extra runners.

Banshee WIP: Day 3

Some more progress today. Lessons learned so far? Resin fucking sucks. Despite a good cleaning my primer acted completely different to resin than it does normal plastic. It also has the tendency to randomly break, as you'll see when I post close up shots. Worst of all, is that the antlers came all fucked up. I did my best to bend them back into place but they're still bent. Another thing that sucks about resin is that you don't really see minor imperfections until you paint. I had to clean them up several times followed by a bit more paint in order for them to look as good as they do now.

Banshee WIP: Day 1

Behold, the first work in progress shot of my MG Banshee. So far things are going okay. Although the paint I'm using does a good job of exposing all the little flaws from failed sanding attempts. Plus I'm almost out. Already.

MG Sinanju Build Review

Bandai's 1/100 Master Grade Sinanju was my first build of 2009*. (I haven't proofed this article, so suck it) JDW_6126 From a build quality this kid if fucking fantastic. Not only does it look great, but it's a big sucker, considerably taller than most MG Gundams. Much to my surprise this kit lacks pollycap joints. While I hated that on my Crossbone the mechanics here are great. The joints are innovative and make for lots of movement. The only issue here is that the shield can be a bit heavy (at least with the beam saber things attached) than the arm can support. If it's clipped on the forearm it has a tendency to pop off all to easily or slowly cause the arm to dip down. This was one of the most frustrating models I've worked on. Not so much on part of the actual design or build quality but due to my own inexperience.
