Neon Genesis Evangelion

Otaku Evolution Episode 239 - Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

It's been a little while, but I'm back! More Otaku Evolution to plug into your mind and blow it away... with its mediocrity.

Actually, I'm strangely proud of this one. I did get a bit sidetracked into talking at length about the Rebuild movies, but only as an avenue to compare the different endings of Evangelion's story, like the TV show's end, the manga's end, etc. I feel like I probably won't get to doing review videos for the Rebuild movies, so this was my chance to talk about them while I was covering The End of Evangelion. But the movie EoE truly does stand on its own as a brilliant work of a visceral emotional gauntlet.

Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time

"Thrice Upon a Time"

(Spoiler-Free) Synopsis: Shinji, Asuka, and Rei are welcomed into a sleepy little village of survivors from the Near Third Impact, an event Shinji inadvertently caused. Having failed to redeem himself for his mistake, Shinji is at first unresponsive to the kindness given to him. But soon after settling in, it becomes clear that the world needs him once more in the fight between WILLE and Nerv, a fight to decide the outcome of the human race itself. Will the machinations of Gendo Ikari come to fruition? Will the Instrumentality Project be a success, or will it be stopped before it starts? It's the final showdown and the final Evangelions are prepped for action!

Terminally Dogmatic: The Controversial (and Superior) New Eva Dub

(I typed this on a phone and IPad, so forgive the lack of bells and whistles for now. My laptop is busted.)

When Netflix announced that it would be featuring the seminal anime classic Neon Genesis Evangelion, fans of the 1995 TV series by studio Gainax, as well as neophytes who hadn’t yet seen it, waited anxiously to see how it would be handled by the streaming giant. Especially of curiosity was the possibility of a brand new English language version of the show, supplanting the previous one done by licensor ADV. Cast members from that dubbed version, including Amanda Winn-Lee, Tiffany Grant, and Spike Spencer all but confirmed that Netflix was going a different direction on social media.

Will Shinji ever pilot an Eva unit again? Should he? The next phase of Instrumentality is set in motion and our hero will find that practice may not make perfect!

Evangelion 3.0 Opening 6 Minutes

So, yeah... pretty awesome. I'd let Pirate Asuka handle my Jolly Roger, if you know what I mean. (I MEANT MY PENIS.) (Wait, she's how old again?) (So yeah, definitely would let her.)

Why was this not here earlier? I have to return and do this? For shame, other ORers. Forcing me to actually do something.

(My top 10 favorite Bond movies list is in the works.)

Evangelion Rebuild 3.0 - First Trailer

Here it is, so hot off the presses that it's not even a properly captured video!

After all this waiting anything new or unexpected? Well... no, not really. At the least it hints at more Asuka and Mari battle shenanigans. It'll be a long, long wait until the BluRay release and eventual subbed rip here in the USA. Sigh.
