Fullmetal Alchemist Season 2 Confirmed

Season 2 of Fullmetal Alchemist Is Announced

So, it looks like there'll be a FMA 2 series.

Wait, what? Fullmetal Alchemist is finished! Hell, they finished it twice! Second time, they really, really finished it! Edward and Alphonse are in our world, the gates are destroyed (presumably), WWII is on its way, the homonuculi are all gone, all is resolved. Sure, maybe not to everyone's tastes- I've read a lot of complaints at the direction that the series took in the last half or quarter and the movie being not quite as satisfying as the series. Personally, I like all of it. In fact, it's one of my favorite anime, and I even like it better than the manga on which its based, a rarity.

So what will this new season of Fullmetal Alchemist entail? Perhaps a Hellsing Ultimate treatment, wherein it recieves a remake that remains closer to the source material than the original series did? Well, that would be interesting, especially if it means characters like Olivia Armstrong and the more accurate Sloth showing up. Not to mention the whole Hohenheim/"Father" dynamic. Pretty fascinating, even though the manga hasn't been all that good for a while now.

I've always felt that the television series, while not depicting as complete a world as the manga, is more faithful to the themes of Fullmetal Alchemist, especially the main one, brotherhood. And I liked the direction it went, with the soul gates and the WWI-era Europe depiction. Was it perfect? No. But interesting, at least to me.

Still, I would watch a "Ultimate Fullmetal Alchemist". Though I'm against giving Vic Mignogna any more work. Man's a tremendously untalented douchebag.
