Maybe I’m more into Western-based anime. I mean, how else would you explain some of my favorite anime being Cowboy Bebop, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Vision of Escaflowne, Michiko & Hatchin, and Black Lagoon? Not exactly rooted in deep Japanese culture, now are they?
91 Days is no different. It takes place in America, with mostly American characters, during a specific slice of American history. If they all stopped shooting each other to sing the National Anthem, it couldn’t get any more American. Italian-American, maybe, but American. It has me watching clips of Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos on YouTube (need to do a full rewatch of the latter sometime next year).
This is a great show. It’s too bad you can’t find it anymore. It’s almost kind of mean that I would even review it. Sorry about that!
