Layman’s Gunpla Guide and Tutorial

Hello and welcome to the Layman’s Gunpla Guide!

When I created this guide back in 2008 I wanted to translate all I was learning about Gunpla into an easy to use guide for all ages and all skill levels. Since then I’ve seen a lot more people enter the hobby, fads come and go, and the proliferation of YouTube and other video tutorials. Me, I’m sticking with the written format – just think it’s easier and more approachable than videos stuffed with ads and filler. The proliferation of social media has also helped connect hobbyists across the globe. In the end, there are lots of great resources now and I encourage you to use them as well. Make sure to check out this section of the guide with my favorite sites and Discord channels. read more

(Reposting) My Angel’s Egg AMV

Since OR won’t let me embed veoh videos: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v1585001SPSJx5t2

So the story behind this is probably better left put in the Rants & Raves section, but suffice it to say I generally HATE anime music videos. So one Christmas in 2005, I decided to sit down and create my own in a three to four day period.

New Capcom VS game? Who is Tatsunoko?

That’s right. There’s a brand new Capcom VS arcade game. It sure did take a long time. I suppose they were listening to their fans. Now, we all know that there won’t be a Marvel Vs Capcom 3 any time soon due to licensing issues. However, the new VS game is Tatsunoko vs Capcom Cross Generation of Heroes. Most of you are probably not familiar with Tatsunoko, at least not right away. Given other blog posts here at Otaku Revolution, I can safely assume this will be in your interests. Tatsunoko is responsible for some awesome anime series such as Macross, Casshern, Samurai Pizza Cats, Karas, Speed Racer, Video Girl Ai, and The Soul Taker among other series. read more

Jott for BlackBerry: Quick Review

Recently Jott, best known for their general voice-to-text translation services expanded further into the mobile market with Jott for BlackBerry.

The premise is pretty simple, after signing up and installing the application to your BlackBerry you can dictate email replies straight from your mailbox. Unfortunately those of you who haven’t upgraded or purchased a new BlackBerry in a while will not be able to mess around with this feature. It’s only available on the Curve (8300), Perl (8100) and 8800.

Megacon 2008 Report

So I went to Megacon this year for three days of fun and excitement. Though not all was fun and excitement. Now, I’ve been to different sorts of conventions before. Some were huge (Otakon), and some were small (MTAC). With that said, my impression of Megacon was more of a middle-con. It took place it a fairly big size area convention center, and housed a large populace, especially on Saturday. The dealers room was actually pretty massive though, but as far as events went, I found myself bored more often than not. Hell, I left at six o’clock…on a SATURDAY. Isn’t Saturday night when everything cool is supposed to happen? On Friday we got there at 11-ish, and we were in what was thought to be the second panel of the day, but in reality no panels actually happened until 1pm? What a joke. I’m not trying to convey that I didn’t have fun. read more

ApctConnect is a tad Ridiculous

The other day I found a little notice stuff in my apartment door. It was information to sign up with AptConnect.com. A website that apparently serves as a fun little online social community when a real life community is too lazy to communicate between their apartment door and car.

Okay, no, I don’t know anyone who lives here.

Irregardless, AptConnect wanted to get to know me. Nothing wrong with that in theory… well let’s just say that their survey process needs a bit of work…
