Synopsis: School’s in session when Lupin is forced to pose as a high school teacher when a diamond he stole ends up in the backpack of a budding juvenile deliquent in a school full of attitude problems. Batman & Robin Eternal #16 Review

“I told you we’d all fit in the picture.”

A righteous sword burns, a villain heel-face turns, and yet I yearn for this plot thread to adjourn, in this sixteenth issue of DC’s weekly Batman disappointment. Still more of Tim & Jason’s Awesome Show Great Job, which is just as dreadfully uninteresting as it has been for what seems like forever. To think I was looking forward to seeing their team-up adventures some time ago. Now I just want them both to be erased from continuity. But hey, at least we get some cool flashback material. read more

“Don’t Move The Mona Lisa”

*****SPOILERS*****

Synopsis: Lupin III, the world’s greatest thief, is broke! After a dry spell, Lupin targets the most famous painting of all time, the Mona Lisa. Of course, stealing it is no small feat with Zenigata eager to capture Lupin again, and it seems at first to be too much for the famed bandit to handle. However, there’s much more than meets the eye when it turns out there’s a fake painting as well as a real one… as well as another fake one! But which one is Lupin making money off selling? The Mona Lisa is smiling at the farce as Lupin tries to restore his treasury! read more

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Episode 16 – Revolutionary Girl Kudelia

Sad, innit? All Kudelia wants to do is go to Earth and have her idea of a revolutionary time, but instead of that she’s feeling so honestly attacked right now. What could’ve been a Velvet Revolution for her turned out to be more a Tiananmen Square with armed unions. We’re also exposed to how entrenched Gjallarhorn is in controlling the flow of information. While not as all encompassing as Veda is in Gundam 00 Season 2, they do a well enough job (if this episode is any indication) of fabricating terrorist events of their own doing and pinning it on anybody that stands in their way. Obviously, this means by episode’s end we’ve got a bunch of dead union members out on the streets, and due to last week’s episode and the fact this episode is named after here, Fumitan croaks after defending Kudelia from a sniper’s bullet. read more

“The End of Lupin III”

*****SPOILERS*****

Synopsis: The greatest thief, Lupin III, has been captured! Under tight wraps and guarded by Inspector Zenigata, Lupin wastes away with nothing more to live for. Zenigata is at first confidence that his nemesis will make an escape attempt, but as time passes, it seems less likely, with his allies ignoring his plight. When Lupin begins to refuse to eat, Zenigata wonders if he really plans to die. Is this really the end of Lupin III, or will he break out of the little box he’s being held in? Lupin knows why the caged bird sings in this confined episode! read more

“The Dream of Italy, Part 2”

*****SPOILERS*****

Synopsis: In the pages of the mysterious book, Lupin gets caught in a dreamscape, finding himself in the memories of Wataru Uraga, Rebecca’s first love. It’s a world created as a record of the man’s memories to leave behind a piece of himself after his death, a temporary implant of his personality that can be injected into whoever deciphered his notes. Lupin, witnessing Wataru’s death and Rebecca’s dispair, awakens with a goal: destroy the leftover notes Wataru left behind. However, MI6 wants what the thinker invented for their own applications, and Agent Nix is close on Lupin’s heels. Can Lupin escape his persistent foe’s keen senses and deadly skills or is this the end of the road for our favorite thief? The puzzle is assembled in this dangerously enlightening episode! read more

Batman & Robin Eternal #15 Review

“I’m the worst character in this book!” “No, I am!”

The situation’s dire as Tim’s plan backfires, but you have to admire of all Batman’s squires, he’s inspired to inquire about the man covered in wires while in flashbacks Batman’s a liar. All this and less in the fairly dry fifteenth installment of DC’s weekly Batman escapade. Less compelling, less exciting, less informative than the previous issue! It’s almost as if the Tim/Jason/Jean-Paul subplot is… pretty boring overall. But hey, that flashback is neat. read more
