Episode 13, "Here Comes The Kaioken! Goku’s Limit vs Vegeta!"

Synopsis: Nappa, called out of the fight by Vegeta, instead targets Gohan and Kuririn, but Goku uses the Kaioken technique he learned from Kaio to immobilize him. Vegeta, fed up with Nappa’s incompetence, kills him. Goku and Vegeta fly off to a more remote area to do battle. Goku uses the Kaioken and seems to match Vegeta at first, but Vegeta begins to come back in force, and Goku struggles to keep up. Seeing no choice, Goku strains his body to use Kaioken to the third power, against Kaio’s advice. read more

Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 12 Review

Episode 12, "The Tears Piccolo Shed… Son Goku’s Furious Counterattack!!"

Synopsis: Piccolo jumps in front of Nappa’s attack, and takes a lot of damage in place of Gohan. As he lie dying, he tells Gohan how much he appreciated the time with him. Piccolo passes, as does Kami. Enraged, Gohan attacks Nappa, who simply defects it. Before Nappa can stop Gohan, he’s whisked away by Kintoun. Vegeta notices something then: Goku has arrived! Goku gives half a senzu to Kuririn and his son, then prepares to fight Nappa himself. Nappa is confident, but Goku proves to be extremely fast, harming Nappa more than he expected to be. Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 11 Review

Episode 11, "Will Son Goku Make It In Time?! The Fight Continues In Three Hours"

Synopsis: The Saiyans wait three hours for Goku to arrive. Nappa keeps himself busy by killing onlookers. Goku arrives at King Yemma’s station and Kami spirits him back to Earth. The three hours pass and Vegeta and Nappa prepare to continue the fight. Goku, back on Earth, heads off to the battle. Piccolo tries to take advantage of a Saiyan’s natural weakness- their tail- but it doesn’t work. Kuririn tries out a new attack, Kienzan, but Nappa dodges and takes him out of the fight. Gohan manages to fight back himself, but it only angers Nappa, who fires a finishing attack. However, Piccolo puts himself in between the attack and Gohan. read more

Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 10 Review

Episode 10, "Wait, Chaozu! Tenshinhan’s Screaming Kikouhou"

Synopsis: Kuririn attacks, killing all but one remaining Saibamen (who is dispatched by Piccolo), but not harming either Vegeta or Nappa. Nappa charges up and attacks Tenshinhan, punching his left hand off. Chaozu decides to sacrifice himself, exploding on Nappa, but to no effect. Piccolo and Kuririn attack Nappa, but Gohan is too afraid to. Tenshinhan uses his last ounce of strength to fire an attack at Nappa, but it doesn’t harm Nappa, and he dies from exhaustion. Before Nappa can attack the remaining fighters, Vegeta suggests they wait for Goku’s arrival. The two Saiyans wait for three hours.

Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 09 Review

Episode 9, "Yamcha’s Hard Struggle! The Terrifying Saibamen"

Synopsis: Vegeta and Nappa, now on Earth, use their scouters to find the two strongest ki on the planet- Piccolo and Gohan. Kururin joins them just as the Saiyans find them. Nappa plants strange creatures called Saibamen. Tenshinhan, Chouzu, and Yamcha arrive, and they decide to each go one-on-one with the six creatures. Tenshinhan easily defeats his opponent, which Vegeta finishes off to motivate the others. Yamcha seemingly defeats his, but it recovers and grabs onto him, self-destructing. The blast kills Yamcha, angering Kururin, who prepares an attack of his own. read more

Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 08 Review

Episode 8, "Come Forth, Shenron! The Saiyan Finally Arrive On Earth"

*****SPOILERS*****

Synopsis: On the last day of training on Kaio’s planet, Goku practices the Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb) attack and contacts Master Roshi to tell him to use the Dragon Balls to ressurect him. Master Roshi summons Shenron and Goku is wished back to life. As he heads back to Earth, however, the Saiyans arrive.

Comments:

It looks like my excitement last week was premature, since we continue to set up things for most of this episode. This episode wrapped up all the preperation for the series of battles to come, with Goku testing his Genki Dama, Master Roshi and the gang summoning Shenron, and Goku heading back to Earth. I almost completely forgot that there was that scene of Goku testing his new attack on Kai’s planet. I’m glad it made the cut. read more

Episode 6, "Finally Reached the End! The Strange Exam of Kaio-sama"

Synopsis: Time passes, and little Gohan has grown acostumed in living in the wilderness, prompting Piccolo to start his formal battle training. Meanwhile, Goku reaches the end of Snake Way, and a small little planetoid with extremely high gravity, the home of the word pun-loving Kaio-sama. Synopsis: Piccolo leaves Gohan in the wilderness to survive on his own for six months, much to the child’s distress. Kami contemplates on the change in Piccolo and his pending death. Goku continues down Snake Way, nearly falling off and discovering that below lies a whirlpool to Hell. Master Roshi informs Chi-Chi and Ox King of the current situation. Gohan transforms when he gets a glance of the full moon, but Piccolo destroys the moon and removes his tail to prevent it from happening again. read more

Episode 4, "Run in the Afterlife, Son Goku! The One Million Kilometer Snake Road"

Synopsis: After Goku passes away, his body disappears from the mortal plane, so that Kami can convince King Yemma to let him train with Kaio-sama (I should just go with "King Kai", right?). Bulma takes the scouter from Raditz’s body to adjust to find Yamcha and the others. Piccolo takes Gohan off to train for the oncoming threat of the Saiyans while Goku is approved to train under Kaio.
