IMMEDIATELY flagged for copyright violations! Thanks, Bandai, you greedy fuckers. Maybe one day Japan will have Fair Use laws, but I wouldn’t count on it, because entertainment execs there are even greedier than human tumors we have over here. The Fair Use law over here means exactly shit these days as it is. But the video is still up, so watch it.
Tarot card-reading high school girl Hitomi Kanzaki finds herself in a strange world of beast men, dragons, magic, swordsmen, and miracle machines that run on bullshit in this anime classic. Join me as I briefly examine The Vision of Escaflowne, a show touched by many a great number of talents.
In his debut episode of Pen Pen Evolution, our favorite penguin takes on an obscure movie called Penguin Memories, about a shell-shocked war vet who finds it difficult to ease himself back into civilian life. Also, everybody is a penguin.
Manga Entertainment, cramming three episodic adventures into one feature does not a movie make.

Maybe the most 80s anime of all time, Megazone 23 has bizarre fashion styles, transforming robot motorcycles, and MTV VJs all in a hodgepodge of 80s sci-fi clusterwonder. So join me, friends, as Vic the Brick and Misato Katsuragi try their best in this world of conflict to have a McNice McDay. Guest cameo by a certain warm water penguin.

No one is to blame when you shook me all night long, because I was hungry like the wolf, but take me to Dr. Feelgood (it’s urgent) or when all is said and done, I just died in your arms tonight, time after time.
So yeah, this episode is about the 1980s.

Otaku Evolution Episode 31 – Virus Buster Serge from mtpenguin on Vimeo.
I only laugh in that title card so I don’t cry, my friends. Virus Buster Serge might just be the worst anime I’ve ever seen, with its pure, unadulterated psychowankery. It’s an action series where the action is choppy and barely animated, a tech series where the tech means random magical logic, and a psychological examination of what turns out to be very simple ideas presented in a pompous, overwrought manner. The show looks and sounds awful, and that terrible English dub isn’t helping. It astounds me that Masami Obari continues to get work even to this day. So join me as a piece of me dies in this, my Virus Buster Serge review. And weep for me. And weep for anime. And weep for humanity.
The first season is over! And also, YouTube is horrible, and TMS and several other companies are greedy corporate jerks. Enjoy!
Have happy holidays, as long as they’re ones that I celebrate! Like the Feast of Maximum Occupancy.
