Otaku Evolution Episode 281 – Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin (OVA)

I wanted to do another Gundam video, but I had a few ideas and didn’t know which to pick. Part of me wanted to do a video on the original TV series, though I covered the story of that in my reviews of the compilation movies. Then I thought, maybe I should do a non-UC Gundam series? But I felt like it would be a pain in the ass to get back into the AUs when I’m in more of a UC mode. I could have done Gundam Thunderbolt, at least the first “season”, but I really wanted to add some new context to the original series and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is a great way to do so. read more

Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin Episode II

Episode 2, “Artesia’s Sorrow”

Synopsis: The year is Universal Century 0071 and the Zabi regime grows more powerful in the group of space colonies at Side 3. The children of the deceased Zeon Zum Deikun grow up on Earth, but are thrown back into danger when Jimba Ral’s plans make them a target. Now called Edward and Sayla Mass, the two find themselves enduring further tragedies and narrowly dodging death. All the while, the Zabis oversee the development of mobile suits, which a reluctant Ramba Ral participates in. What do the orphans once called Casval and Artesia have to do to position themselves out of danger? Volume 2 of this OVA sees Casval developing into the man who would become Char Aznable, the Red Comet. read more

Gundam: The Origin I PV

I want- nay, need- this in my life. They even have Mayumi Tanaka (Kuririn and Monkey D. Luffy) as the younger Red Comet. I just hope it’s not as expensive as Unicorn (still don’t have the final two volumes, might not ever).
