Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 34 ENGLISH DUB Review

Episode 34, "Ice Queen"

I love this woman.

Synopsis: Edward and Alphonse ask for Major General Armstrong's help in finding Mei, which she only agrees to in order to obtain a possible new weapon to defend Briggs with. She orders her subordinate Miles to find the brothers work. Walking through the base, Miles reveals that he is part Ishbalan, but was accepted by Olivier. Edward expresses his desire to not be ignorant, which Miles finds amusing. The brothers are given the duty to take down icicles, along with Falman, who was transferred to Briggs. Suddenly, a homunculus, Sloth, digs its way into the base, with Ed suspecting he's been followed. The soldiers attack Sloth, but to no effect. Suddenly, Olivier has an idea.

With the Audio:English series, PenguinTruth takes a critical look at the English
dubs which grace some of anime's most defining series in North America.

If you've ever been to 4chan, you know that they love tier charts. This is where they seperate things in categories of quality. Usually the top tier is "GOD TIER" and the lowest is "SHIT TIER", and I've done this myself, even here (my Gundam Tiers articles, for instance, which you can expect a follow up to sometime this or next year). However, unlike Anonymous at at 4chan, I'm actually capable and willing to explain and/or defend my choices as to what is truly "god" and what is "shit" in terms of the trival stuff I like.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 33 ENGLISH DUB Review

Episode 33, " The Northern Wall Of Briggs"

"Not one fucking number! Damn lottery!"

Synopsis: Kimbley continues to track Scar and Marcoh, leading him North. When he finds Scar, it's not Marcoh with him, but Yoki: Marcoh and Mei aren't with him. After a short fight, Kimbley is pinned to the back of a train car with a metal pipe, but Kimbley destroys the back of the train and gets away. Edward and Alphonse, meanwhile, have made their way to the Briggs mountains and encounter Major General Olivier Mira Armstrong, Alex Louis Armstrong's sister, and the commander in charge of the Briggs fortress. Reluctantly, she bids them entry. In another part of the mountains, Marcoh and Mei reach the spot where Scar hid his brother's notes and uncover them.

My pick: Kotono Mitsuishi
Reasoning: I love how Mitsuishi can sound so wacky and over-the-top, but in a very sincere and passionate manner. Likewise, I sense that same sense of sincerity from both English VAs who played her. However, I give the edge to Jessica Calvello, because Larissa Wolcott sounded a little too shrill for her own good at times. I have to admit, though, she really grew on me towards the end of her run. I still like her Excel, just not as much as the others. Mitsuishi is the clear winner because she did what took two English VAs to do, and better than both of them.
