Unicorn Gundam Decals, Damn You Globaltoy

I ordered some grey Unicorn Gundam decals for use on my upcoming Banshee conversion. They’ve arrived, and I’m not happy.

This is the image used by the eBay seller,

This is closer to the actual color,

Completely different colors, won’t go with my color scheme at all. Fucking hell, they’d better refund my money.

Finished GN-X

After a decent delay my MG GN-X has been finished. (All images link to Flickr)

For whatever reason the paint I applied clips realllly easily. Had to do a lot of touch ups prior to my final top coat. The poses are sort of lack luster because I didn’t want to risk causing more damage than there already is. Unfortunately the arm isn’t strong enough to hold the huge gun on it’s own.

I made sure to not put any coating on the silver pieces. Stands out great this way. read more

MG Nu Gundam – Finished

Behold, my finished MG Nu Gundam…

Some of you may remember when I posted work in progress photos of my Master Grade Nu Gundam and reviewed the clear pieces themselves even earlier. After a long delay I’ve finally finished the kit.

Over all, the MG Nu is a fine kit. It’s old school gunpla made with the purest of intentions. There’s a quality and design element lost with kits of this era that hasn’t translated to the modern MG kits (for better or worse). While over all the kit is pretty basic, the most impressive element was how Bandai bothered to include die cast metal parts for the lower legs. They dramatically lower the center of gravity and increase stability. Even the rest of the kit is quite sturdy. To sum things up, if you like the Nu design, this kit is a must have. read more

MG GN-X Review

It was a surprise to all when Bandai announced that the second kit to get Master Grade treatment from Gundam 00 would be the GN-X. It’s not exactly one of the fan favorites, I really hated it since day one. However I decided to order one of these new kits and hope for the best. When the order shipped I was indifferent. When I started construction I was filled with annoyance. Now that she’s finished, I’m filled with a sort of odd, warm, fuzzy feeling.

GN-X: Under Construction

While I await a shipment of decals to finish my MG Nu I started on a little packaged I received yesterday, the MG GN-X!

If it wasn’t for work (which I shouldn’t blame too much, with out it I wouldn’t have this kit) I could have had a full fledged review up before Dalong. Oh well! Anyhow, check out these quick shots…

So far, I’m not very excited by the kit. I really like the way the tau drive clicks into place. I’ll get proper shots of that for my full fledged review. Unfortunately the weird fin parts are lose (no polly-caps) and like to flap around. I’m not even 100% how they’re supposed to rest on the kit. read more

MG Nu Gundam – Clear Part Campaign Review

One kit I managed to acquire recently was the re-released MG Nu Gundam w/ clear parts per Bandai’s “Clear Part Campaign.”

I say re-released because unlike the MG Victory w/ clear parts, which featured the initial release with an extra runner thrown in and a slip on the box, the MG Nu box is all new. Well, and all new print. The design is the same, just a yellow banner around the outside, some new tags, a picture on one side of the clear parts.
