Dragon Ball Z has one of those dubs that’s extremely popular despite it being such an affront to the original material. Why is that, I wonder? I’m guessing it’s mostly nostalgia. The same people who rave about how you have to watch DBZ dubbed are the ones who rant when there’s a slight translation difference in any other anime. Hypocrites, in other words. If a company did today to an anime what Funimation did to DBZ decades ago, there would be a huge controversy over it, and you know it.

Dragon Ball Kai – Episode 110 Review
Episode 110,"Who is the World’s Greatest?! A Battle Royal Match to Decide!!

Synopsis: Kaioshin is perplexed and dismayed by the behavior of the three Saiyans, who all relish the prospect of fighting strong opponents. Dabura volunteers to be the next stage opponent, and goes into a room to meditate to be at full power. However, Gohan, whose turn it is next, becomes impatient waiting for him. At the Tenkaichi Budoukai, the officials are having trouble deciding what to do now that many of the fights have dropped out. Mr. Satan, high on confidence, suggests having a Battle Royal, where all remaining fighters battle at once. However, Mr. Satan begins to lose his nerve when faced with the reality of having to take on four opponents who will likely team up on him as the champion. Killa tries to team up with Mighty Mask (Goten and Trunks), while Jewel attempts to broker a deal with 18, but Goten, Trunks, and 18 have no interest in the offers. Angry, Killa and Jewel attack their respective deniers and are immediately knocked out of the ring. Mr. Satan thinks himself lucky to only have two opponents, but that attitude fades when he sees Mighty Mask and 18 exchange blows above the ring.
Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 12 Review
Episode 12, "The Tears Piccolo Shed… Son Goku’s Furious Counterattack!!"

Synopsis: Piccolo jumps in front of Nappa’s attack, and takes a lot of damage in place of Gohan. As he lie dying, he tells Gohan how much he appreciated the time with him. Piccolo passes, as does Kami. Enraged, Gohan attacks Nappa, who simply defects it. Before Nappa can stop Gohan, he’s whisked away by Kintoun. Vegeta notices something then: Goku has arrived! Goku gives half a senzu to Kuririn and his son, then prepares to fight Nappa himself. Nappa is confident, but Goku proves to be extremely fast, harming Nappa more than he expected to be. Irritated, Vegeta tells Nappa to quit the fight- he’ll take care of Kakkarot
Dragon Ball Z Kai- Episode 11 Review
Episode 11, "Will Son Goku Make It In Time?! The Fight Continues In Three Hours"

Synopsis: The Saiyans wait three hours for Goku to arrive. Nappa keeps himself busy by killing onlookers. Goku arrives at King Yemma’s station and Kami spirits him back to Earth. The three hours pass and Vegeta and Nappa prepare to continue the fight. Goku, back on Earth, heads off to the battle. Piccolo tries to take advantage of a Saiyan’s natural weakness- their tail- but it doesn’t work. Kuririn tries out a new attack, Kienzan, but Nappa dodges and takes him out of the fight. Gohan manages to fight back himself, but it only angers Nappa, who fires a finishing attack. However, Piccolo puts himself in between the attack and Gohan.

Episode 5, "Wilderness Survival! The Moon Awakens Son Gohan"

Synopsis: Piccolo leaves Gohan in the wilderness to survive on his own for six months, much to the child’s distress. Kami contemplates on the change in Piccolo and his pending death. Goku continues down Snake Way, nearly falling off and discovering that below lies a whirlpool to Hell. Master Roshi informs Chi-Chi and Ox King of the current situation. Gohan transforms when he gets a glance of the full moon, but Piccolo destroys the moon and removes his tail to prevent it from happening again.
