So, Detective Conan/Case Closed... what a weird franchise. I'm not sure who it's supposed to be for. It's marketed to little kids in Japan, even though it has horribly violent content and an ongoing serialized main storyline. But can you market it to older kids or adults, despite it having a lot of kiddie shit? I doubt it. So who is it for? And who is this special for, by the way? I don't know, but I did kind of enjoy it. That roller coaster murder was gruesome!

Otaku Evolution Episode 215 – Case Closed: Countdown to Heaven
Well, it’s been a while since I’ve attempted to cover a Detective Conan/Case Closed movie. TMS always finds a way to screw me. Sure, occasionally I can still use clips that are a tad longer than they ought to be, but I’ve shortened my clips so much at this point that they’re practically a series of screenshots. I decided to give Countdown to Heaven a chance, given that it actually involves the Black Organization… kind of, and I like that arc. I wish Discotek would pick up these early movies and redub them with the current cast and dub some of the ones in between the ones Funimation did and the ones they’re now doing. There’s plenty of them.
Otaku Evolution Episode 121 – Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes
Fuck TMS. Seriously. They’ve flagged this a several times already and I’ve had to re-edit and upload to see if I can beat the algorithm. They’re being more draconian than with Lupin videos. They’re just REVIEW VIDEOS! If this keeps up, I’ll have to move the video to Dailymotion or Bitchute or whatever. Otherwise the review will be about four minutes long and just have static screencaps, making it all the more the glorified slideshows my videos usually are.
Anyway, Case Closed (Detective Conan): Captured in Her Eyes is pretty standard Conan fare, not being especially stand out, but being pretty decent. It still has a number of flaws, though, and I’m more than willing and able to nitpick this thing for chuckles.

For those who’ve been following the show, my Christmas episodes are usually the videos I put the most effort into. This year, lacking a single, sufficiently Christmas-y anime to review itself, I decided to pick a few episodes of different anime that take place on and/or around Christmas. Lupin The Third, Case Closed, and Super Dimensional Fortress Macross are the subject of my holiday hand wringing. Don’t forget to check out the new Lucky Squid Studios commercial included!
