MG Unicorn Gundam – Marida Cruz Custom

Here’s a clever and dynamic opening paragraph that gets you interested in reading what I have to say about this build instead of skipping to the photos.

Despite building so many Unicorn Gundam kits over the last 8 years there’s always been a few ideas I’ve had floating around but never got to. While a Marida Cruz custom Unicorn was the runner up in my recent poll of ‘what project should I tackle next,’ it just happened to coincide with r/Gundam slash r/Gunpla’s UC 0096 group build on discord. Figured now would be a good time to try out a few of those ideas and see how they play out. read more

Building a MG Unicorn without Instructions

I’ve got quite a few Master Grade Unicorn Gundams in my collection. By last count I’m at 12 including the Banshee variants. When I picked up the last three for a bit of a project I was challenged on Reddit to build one without the manual. It wasn’t the first time someone threw that task out there so I thought I’d give it a go.

Preparation was easy, take all the of the runners with applicable parts and cut & trim all the pieces. I didn’t do any of the weapons because I haven’t decided whether I’m going to use them or trade them out quite yet. I’ve already got more Beam Magnum rounds than I know what to do with. I made things a bit more difficult for myself by including both the Ver. Ka and OVA parts in the mix. read more

MG Full Armor Unicorn Gundam – Gunpla World Expo Clear Edition

My god, it’s even more beautiful than I had imagined.

As some of you know, I’m somewhat of a Gundam Unicorn gunpla errr… what’s the right word… Collector? Connoisseur? Freak? I’ve got a total of nine Master Grade Unicorns in my possession, not to mention other MGs from the series. So when I saw on GundamGuy that there would be a limited edition clear Full Armor Unicorn for sale, at the Gunpla World Expo, I had to have one. Unable to make a trip to Japan I picked up one, err two, from Gentei Kits who specializes in Bandai’s generally Japan exclusive releases. read more

MG Sinanju Stein – Finished

After a long and frustrating process my MG Sinanju Stein is finally complete.

My Stein gave me a lot of grief, which was duly returned over the course of this build. I had initially intended for this kit to receive a paint job that, accidentally, matched the Hi-Nu colour scheme. I wanted to keep things simple but couldn’t decide on what colour to run with until I saw nrvblanco’s PG 00 Raiser WIP over on the Gundam Australia Forums. He mixed silver with blue to create a great looking colour which I tried to replicate. From there I add a bit of gray and the next thing I knew after plotting all the colours on Fury S12’s Stein designer I realized I had a MG Hi-Nu scheme going. read more

MG Banshee – Unboxing Impressions

I just wanted to take a quick minute to share my early impressions of the latest member of my MG Gundam Unicorn collection, the Master Grade Banshee. P.S. Be forewarned, it’s incredibly late after a long day at work and this article is probably full of incoherent sentences and half finished thoughts.

The kit itself appears to have been built off the MG Unicorn OVA version kit. I have to dive into it a bit more but it looks like it has the shorter leg pieces (to facilitate a tad more poseability) and the non-vulcan head (though the head pieces are different, apparently to facilitate the Banshee’s antlers. read more

MG Detal Plus – Foot Fix

In my earlier review of the Delta Plus I mentioned that the feet have a habit of collapsing forward due to the weight and a loose joint in the foot. Since then it seems that I’m not the only one to experience the issue and figure it worthwhile to offer up some suggestions. I’m sure there will be more advanced solutions from the more experienced community members but what I offer are quick fixes. Nothing spectacular, nothing glamorous, but more than enough to mitigate the issue. read more

MG Delta Plus Review [Updated x2]

The MG Delta Plus was an instant day one purchase. Another in the line of fantastic designs from Gundam Unicorn, the Delta Plus is a worthy descendant of Kazumi Fujita’s famous Zeta Gundam. Like him, or hate him, I think Hajime Katoki’s Delta is fantastic. Design wise it’s hard to argue against the aesthetics, but how would it fare as a Master Grade kit? As any Gundam modeler will tell you Bandai doesn’t have the greatest of track record when it comes to transforming kits, both within and outside of the Zeta inspired lineage. So how well does this newest addition hold up? Let’s take a look… read more

MG The O – A Review

It’s show time, The O!

The MG O has long been awaited by many since Bandai first showcased it years ago. Shortly after its announcement, for reasons unknown to me, it disappeared and Bandai never followed through with its release. Now, following a 2nd place victory in Bandai’s MG Wishlist survey they have reconsidered that decision.

When the release of the MG O was announced I was excited. I love large, imposing kits like this one and I have the perfect spot on my shelf for it. After some shipping issues delayed progress I was shocked to find such a huge box waiting for me. It’s ame size as a PG kit and smaller than the 1/48 Gundam. Despite it’s size the number of pieces is pretty standard for a MG kit and the whole thing is a pretty easy build. read more

Bandai MG Victory Gundam Ver. Ka Review

Welcome to my review of Bandai’s Master Grade Victory Gundam, Ver. Ka. Since this isn’t a straight build I’ve broken up my review into two segments. The first talking about the kit itself and the second a review of my design and paint choices.

Note that for some images in my review I use images from dalong.net’s review. Let’s just say I’m too frustrated/lazy to transform and photograph.

The Kit

The Victory Gundam is one of my favorite Gundams from a design perspective. To me its simple design and functionality are more aesthetic than anything from SEED or 00. read more
