Episode 53, "The Flames of Revenge"

Synopsis: Citizens around Amestris tune into Radio Capital, a station in Central where several Mustang’s subordinates are at as the Fuhrer’s wife is being interviewed about the attempt on her life. Mustang’s group uses this to gain support of their countrymen, who believe that a coup has been started to overthrow Bradley and Mustang and his group are defending the status quo. Hearing Maria Ross on the program, Denny Brosh realizes that she’s still alive. The Central command officers are surprised to see tanks attacking HQ. Meanwhile, underground, Roy and Riza arrive to help Ed’s group and Roy easily dispatches several homunculi zombies with his flames. Mei and Envy, the latter chasing the former, end up in the same room, where Envy sees the unlikely partnership between State Alchemists and Scar and comments on it. Roy demands to know who killed Maes Hughes and Envy eventually admits to it, showing him how he transformed into Hughes’ wife to catch him off guard. Roy tells Ed, Scar, and the others to go ahead, as he will handle Envy on his own. Roy easily injures Envy repeatedly using his flame alchemy, even when Envy transforms into his larger form. Envy slips away and tries disguising himself as Hughes, but Roy doesn’t fall for it. Having been separated during the fight, Roy and Riza reunite, but Riza points her gun at Roy. read more

Episode 03 – “Invasion”

Spoilers Ahead

Summary: The Skrugg have invaded Central City. The police and army are no opposition for the Skrugg and their tough exterior exo-skeletons. The Skrugg’s mother ship extends its roots on and into the Earth, essentially allowing the broadcast of their signal through the air, TV, and computers.

Joey and Psy head off to make sure Joey’s grandmother is okay and on the way they encounter a group of Skrugg. As expected, Joey summons Heroman, who once again kicks some serious ass. In typical shonen fashion, Heroman becomes overpowered by the amount of Skrugg and must use a new power in order to overcome them. read more

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – Episode 09 Review

Synopsis: Edward regains consciousness in a hospital, scolded by Ross and Brosh for his recklessness. From there, he calls Winry to Central to repair his automail. Alphonse struggles with the implications of Barry the Chopper’s words, eventually leading to a confrontation with Ed. Winry yells at him for doubting his brother’s intentions, and the two make up on the roof, renewing their vow to keep going.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – Episode 52 Review

Episode 52, "Combined Powers"

Synopsis: Using the Philosopher’s Stone, Alphonse battles Pride and Kimbley. Kimbley is impressed, but is curious as to why Alphonse hasn’t used the stone to retrieve his body. Alphonse claims that the possibility exists to save everyone and regain his body. Kimbley argues that it’s possible that neither will occur, and attacks using his own, refined stone. In Central, the Armstrong siblings take on Sloth, who proves to be the fastest of the homunculi. Pride seemingly gains the advantage against Alphonse, but it turns out to be a trap. Heinkel comes from behind Kimbley and bites his neck. Edward, Scar, and the other chimera continue to fight the homunculi army, who try disabling them by taking out their legs. As Pride taunts Alphonse and his group, a car comes out of nowhere and hits him. The car is driven by none other than Yoki, who helps the others escape. Alone with a dying Kimbley, Pride decides to devour him like he did with Gluttony. Back at Central HQ, the troops who corner Olivier are attacked by the homunculi army and she tells them to make a choice between dying or making a stand. Beneath Central, Envy chases Mei. In the room where Ed and the others are, they are beginning to get overwhelmed, but Roy and Riza arrive. read more
