Holy shit, this could be worth buying a 3DS for. Wait, it’s never going to get translated and released in the US. My wallet thanks you Namco, while my heart cries in anguish.

MG Banshee ver. Titans – WIP 2
Time to share some more WIP shots of my latest MG Unicorn project, more specifically, a MG Banshee painted in Titans colours. For the most part things have been going well and a majority of the kit has been painted. That’s saying a lot since I counted 5 pieces in the entire thing that aren’t getting one colour or another. Good news aside, I have had some major problems with my top coat though.
For whatever reason, I think because I laid to heavy of a coat, Testors’ Dull Cote actually managed to make many of the pieces more lustrous. Frustrating on it’s own, horrible when in contact with the decals. This issue doesn’t seem to have occurred on the decals themselves, just the paint. Thus the decals are duller than the pieces around them and their lines show up really easy with the right lighting. It’s almost like reverse silvering.
Music of Note: The Gaslight Anthem – 45
Here’s one you’ve probably heard already. This is the lead track from the Gaslight Anthem’s fourth album, Handwritten. The YouTube video for the song was posted almost three months ago and just surpassed one million views. Just because I feel obligated to attach a blurb to these videos doesn’t mean that you have to read them.
MG Banshee ver. Titans – WIP Start
After a bit of a Gunpla break I’ve returned to get started on my next MG Unicorn, this time a MG Banshee, painted in a Titans colour scheme. Instead of black for the torso and feet I’m going to go a navy blue then use a lighter blue on the rest of the kit. The frame, where I originally planned to use yellow, is going to silver. Yellow details will go here and there, as with the Titans theme, and red where appropriate. This guy is also going to have two claws, with the angry claw bits painted a metalic red (like it’s heating up). Here’s the current mockup…
Music of Note: The Temper Trap – Trembling Hands
Is this song getting the attention it deserves? It’s three months old at this point but Temper Trap’s self-named album has only reached 83rd here in the United States. Either way, it’s good to see some Australian bands getting airplay around here.
Music of Note: Lovedrug – Dinosaur
Lovedrug is an indie band out of Ohio. I just came across them while going through the unofficial SXSW 2012 artists torrent. Dinosaur is one of the singles from their 2011 album, Wild Blood. Certain parts of the song remind me of The Pixies – Where is my Mind.
Music of Note: Paul Banks – The Base
The Base is the first release of Paul Banks’ upcoming solo album, Banks. Paul is best known as the lead for the group Interpol and this is his second full length solo album.
MG Nu Gundam ver. Ka Lineart
Holy shit, this thing is pure sex…
December release I believe (based on the large 12 and lack of Japanese reading skills). $93 dollars though? Eh, screw it, I’m still in!
Gundam: Looking at the franchise’s future
With Gundam AGE wrapping up in the next six weeks or so and the mysterious Gundam: The Origin just off the horizon (I’m not sure Bandai has revealed how they’re going to do the adaption yet) I thought it would be a good time to sit down and discuss just what we want from one of our favorite franchises.
Below are some of my personal ramblings about what the series has been lacking as of late along with what it needs moving forward.
Make the story the most important aspect
Every series strives for something, whether it be to tell a story, comment on society, showcase animation, etc. Typically the shows which stick with us though the years focused on the story, the characters, and did so in a quality way (e.g. Cowboy Bebop, Planetes). Over the years Gundam as a franchise has shifted more from that dynamic to a vehicle to drive product sales. It’s a case most evident by how Bandai treated Gundam AGE. Products accompanying the series were announced early and many of the new designs to show up in the series were revealed on screen, but as merchandise. Save for a huge twist at the end many will likely remember the series as having a strong premise, some good designs, but a below average with every other facet.
